back to life

July 17th 2023

Wonderful to be working with Stuart Keegan again printing up my first work since the pandemic.

As well as my recent trips to Mexico City and New York there was work from Istanbul made last September to look at too. We'd managed to contact sheet that last year but, in the best tradition of my gestation metaphor, it's taken a little time to emerge!

After a period of time using an automatic exposure setting and looking to move away from my usual high contrast style I decided to revert to my original recipe as I haven't been as happy with the results. Ironically being drawn to the theatricality of the narrow lanes and doorways of both cities, the ones I'm most pleased with don't rely on lighting for their interest but the interplay between people, deliberate and serendipitous, that I find so fascinating.
