How do you make a documentary of a documentarian? Well if you’re Paul Sng then very well. I knew of him through the book This Separated Isle - Invisible Britain but I confess to only recently knowing more about the work of Tish Murtha, through social posts by Marc Davenant in particular, but I was really privileged to see it.

The film is riven with passion and injustice - both for the photographs and the photographer herself. A talent portraying everyday working-class life with intimacy and respect but with no exit for herself.

The Q&A at the film's first showing in London brought home the reality that any photographer in such circumstances today would have little better opportunity to develop a career. Do watch.
